Growing In Faith Together - GIFT - Our Family Faith Formation format
Our Saint Brigid Parish community has been following the movements of the Holy Spirit! The Holy Spirit has guided our hospitality, small groups, and even our understanding of discipleship. We are excited the Spirit is moving our Faith Formation process too! We launched a new format a few years ago to incorporate families—growing in faith together—and to encourage a wider sense of community throughout the parish. Unlike our previous program which involved once a week child only classes for the entire school year, the new format has once a month family sessions, where at least one parent attends with their child or children, and children's only sessions that meet weekly for two shorter seasons in the Fall and Spring, based around the timeing of the parish wide Connection to Christ (C2C) groups. This program is intended for families with children in grades 1-8 enrolled at public or non-Catholic private schools, but all family members, as well as Catholic school families, are welcome. Among the many reasons for this new format is the recognition that faith formation is a life long process and research shows that parents involvement in the faith formation of their children is a key indicator for a sustained adult faith.

Children's Liturgy of the Word (Ages 4-9)
Throughout the year, Children's Liturgy of the Word is offered on Sunday mornings during the 9 am Mass. Children ages 4-9 are invited after the opening prayers to go to the John Paul II room with adult leaders to hear the Liturgy of the Word presented in a way geared towards their comprehension. Following the homily, children return to the main parish assembly to join their families in time for the Preparation of the Gifts and the remainder of Mass. Registration is not required to participate in Children's Liturgy of the Word.
Sunday School (Ages 3-Kindergarten)
Sunday School is offered for children ages 3 (and potty-trained) through kindergarten during the 9 am Mass and offered throughout the year, taking breaks for major holidays. Children meet in the Ocean Room before Mass, are checked in by their parents and then are picked up by their parents after Mass.
During Sunday School, children will review the Sunday Gospel reading, enjoy music and crafts, and learn more about our faith.
Pre-registration for Sunday School is not necessary and open to all parishioners and visitors. Parents are welcome to stay with their child for class or return to Mass. Drop off begins at 8:50am at the Ocean Room on the north side of the church by the plaza. Children must be signed in and out of the class by a responsible party.

Child Lectors and Altar Servers
Children who are in 4th grade and above are invited to consider being a child lector or altar server.
Child lectors are trained throughout the year and have the opportunity to proclaim the Word of God during regular weekend Masses. Altar servers can be trained as needed and are invited to serve at any of the weekend Masses throughout the year.
