Preparing for Pentecost

Consider praying a novena to the Holy Spirit starting Thursday May 10 which is the Feast of the Ascension (Christian belief of Jesus' bodily ascension into heaven).  A novena is made up of nine days of prayer and meditation usually to ask God for special prayer requests or petitions.  Click here for a guided novena (with email reminders) to the Holy Spirit.

Celebrate Pentecost at Saint Brigid Parish on May 19-20!

As we reach the end of the Easter Season, we rejoice in the birth of our Church. Pentecost is the remembrance of the coming of the Holy Spirit to the Apostles once Jesus ascended to Heaven; it was the first ever Confirmation. This year we are blessed to witness the Sacrament of Confirmation on Pentecost. We will be rejoicing in the Holy Spirit—alive in our hearts and community—all weekend long. There will be a festive celebration after each mass, special family activities after the morning Masses, and a congratulatory reception after the 5:30 pm Confirmation Mass on Sunday. We invite you to share in the life of the Spirit, and His abundant gifts!”

"When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim." - Acts 2:1-4
