We need others, Others need us. God made us that way.
We need the love and support of community to find Jesus in the first place and to keep finding and following Him. But keep in mind this doesn't detract from the personal dimension of discipleship. Faith is a deeply personal matter, but not a private one. God did not intend for us to walk this faith journey alone. There are many dimensions to living out our faith in community:
- We receive the first seeds of our faith in our families
- We experience the presence of God in Mass and the sacraments
- The one prayer Jesus taught us begins with the word "Our"
- Jesus says he is present in the gathered community (Mt. 18:20)
|For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them. - Matthew 18:20|
